BONANZA
A 6-week process of collectively thinking about Nuevo León’s (and the region’s) food culture, endemic ingredients and traditional foods. Together with a diverse group of ten participants from different age groups and backgrounds, we explored the flavors, origins and implications of what we eat, both traditionally as well as our contemporary habits and preferences. Guided by our taste buds and our senses, we explored our gustatory memory, some of us as people who grew up in the region, and others as transplants who moved in from elsewhere. Recounting, retrying, rethinking and reconnecting with norteño ingredients and recipes, through taste testing, collective conversation and later on a field visit, to finish with the creation of a still life tableau vivant (a living painting) which we were able to share with other members of the community.NOV-DEC 2024
